It's a trait of mine at this point, in every single story I write, whether it's a Screenplay, a Novel, A short story, A comic, whatever it is... there must always be something in there that will make the reader go through a roller coaster of emotions. My goal is always to make the reader feel something, and not just the reader, but essentially also myself. If what I'm writing isn't making me choke up a bit or feel any kind of emotion, something is wrong with it and I have to fix it up. There's a reason for this of course, I feel like stories are meant to affect people on a personal level, to move people, to teach them a thing or two about life, and to impact their live's in a huge way. Every single one of my favorite stories ever told, in any form, a movie, a show, a novel, a comic, a sitcom, a poem, whatever the case may be, have always made me feel something deep in my soul, they have touched me in ways I can't explain. The best stories to me are always the ones that make you emotionally connected to each main character in some way, shape, or form. A story that doesn't have a mixture of emotions in it is just boring to me, I feel like maybe people who don't feel that much love at home and feel alone, should feel some sort of company with a story that's about something meaningful.

The three main emotions I always strive to make the reader feel are: happy, Shocked, and Sad. I think if you have all three of these in your story, then you have something special on your hands. Of course these shouldn't be the only emotions you make your reader feel. but I believe they should be the main three you should focus on. I love a story that catches me off guard and takes me by surprise. For example, if the tone of the story seems like a lighthearted and happy one then all of a sudden something shocking happens to completely change the tone of the story into a suspenseful one, or if something sad happens and changes the tone of the story into a dark one, then I think it could really show your great writing skills and make the reader impressed and feel emotional and also want to keep reading more and more, cause this is what makes a story more entertaining. The most important thing I believe though, is that your story has to make you emotional, it has to be something personal to you. At least for me, that's the most important thing while I'm writing. Think about a moment in your life where you felt really emotional about something, or maybe something that's currently taking place in your life at this moment is making you sit alone in your room and letting your tears out. Write a story inspired off of that and make it come from the heart. I think making a character that the reader has gotten emotionally connected to pass away is the most cliche but one of the best ways to make them emotional, imagine making a character so good and making the reader fall in love with them, then suddenly they die, it could touch them in a way you as the writer probably don't even know, maybe they lost a family member they really loved, and this character dying reminds them of their family member, I know something like that would surely make me cry so much my eyes would turn red.

Life lessons:

This is so crucial to me, every story I write, has to have a life lesson in it. Otherwise, it failed miserably. It needs to teach the reader something about life, making them go back and think about their life and everything they have been through is the sign of a truly beautiful story. Every single one of my favorite stories have always done that for me. while it's also good to let the reader escape reality for a while with your story, it's also important to make them maybe want to change as a person and become better, make them realize that your story is trying to speak to them personally, that it's something more than just fiction, it's a story of life and the beauties of it. I feel like we all need that one story in our live's that will change us and impact us deeply, make sure that story is yours for someone out there.

Letting the reader know that everything will be okay:

Now this is kind of a touchy subject for me, but it's one that is so important to not just me, but everyone. Let me just tell you, if you thought the only way to make an emotional story is to have sadness in it, you are wrong. A lot of people go through difficult times in their life, I'm going through probably the toughest time of my entire life right now and I need stories that let me know everything is going to be okay and give me some bit of hope more than ever right now. I want to sympathize with my readers as they may be going through tough times right now just like I am, and I just want to give them some bit of hope from my side, that they'll be okay, everything in life happens for a good reason. These stories are the best stories to me, stories that make the main character go through a difficult chapter in their life but then eventually overcome it and brings hope to the readers. This is another element into making an emotional story, it doesn't always have to be dark and sad, it can be uplifting and inspiring.

Making your MC go through relatable obstacles:

Now obviously if you want to make your reader emotionally invested in your story, you have to make it relatable (While maybe adding some fantasy in there of course) make a story that will be something relatable too almost everyone, make your MC go through day to day problems most of us do such as: Money problems, Relationship problems, Self Esteem problems, Insecurities, Heartbreak, you know... the daily things us as people go through. It's important to have this because otherwise if it's all unrealistic and too fictional, what's there for your reader to get emotionally invested in? what's there for your reader to sympathize with your MC? What's there for your reader to learn about life? you should also ask yourself these questions before beginning to write your story down, it'll help. In my Wattpad Novel which is still in progress titles "The Perfect man" I tried my best to add some fantasy in there while also making it a realistic story about a man realizing all the mistakes he made in his past and how bad of a person he truly was. There's nothing wrong with adding some fantasy aspect to your story of course, as long as you also add some realism to it and make the reader relate to it and your MC.

Think of your MC as yourself:

Now if you want to make your MC relatable, make him relatable to you. Think of yourself, every heartache you've been through, every disappointment in your life, every time life screwed you over when you were just trying to do the right thing. Think of all that, and apply it to your story by making your MC go through similar things as you have gone through, as I've said earlier, make it something personal to you. Many stories lack this, that grounded, human feel in a story, sadly many people are mostly into these stories with a lot of fantasy and that are mainly made for entertainment purposes only, it's nice to have these grounded and personal tales from time to time. In my stories, my MC always has some bit of myself in him or her, I guess that's why I always enjoy writing, cause I make it a story about myself, remember if you want to make an emotional and relatable story, this is always a must.

So with that being said, I hope this was a good help to you, and I hope you continue to put your wonderful stories out there, remember... the world needs writers. Take care :)
